Lyngby Day / International Welcome Day

Welcome to Lyngby! We warmly welcome everyone, whether you are new in town or simply interested in learning more about the local community in Lyngby and how internationals can engage.

Lyngby Day is for those who are still discovering Lyngby and would like to strengthen your feeling of belonging and gain more knowledge about the local community. As an international, you are an important part of Lyngby and so you should have the best possible opportunities to thrive here in Lyngby and in Denmark.

From the event you’ll gain insights and new relations in Lyngby, learn how to connect with Danes by participating in local organisations, and meet local ambassadors who are ready to share their experiences of living in Lyngby and Denmark. What you can experience at the event:

  • Sofia Osmani, the mayor of Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality and Anéh Hajdu, CEO at Science City Lyngby extends a warm welcome and will introduce the many qualities of Lyngby
  • Kasper Graa Wulff, director of Lyngby-Taarbæk, Michael Knørr Skov, senior market director at COWI and Lise Roest-Madsen from Lyngby City Library, will share interesting insights about Lyngby. You can hear about Lyngby’s development into an international innovation district, why the city and the local area is attractive to global businesses such as COWI and information about the cultural offers provided by the library.
  • Trine Bøgh Barnholdt, cultural – and leisure consultant from Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, Ian Rutt, leader of The International Choir and Kristian Nielsen, club manager at Lyngby Tennis Club introduces you to ‘Foreningslivet’ – a central part of Danish society. Foreninger are local volunteer-run NGO’s, organisations, local sports clubs, and other leisure activity organizations for people of all ages. You will learn about the importance of participating in the local community, how you can discover a variety of activities in the local area for you and your children, and how active participation can be a shortcut to making Danish friends.
  • Interviews and interactions with local ambassadors, Maria Andrianova and Arun Prakash will share their experiences and give practical advice about living in Lyngby and in Denmark – feel free to ask any questions.
  • A guided tour of the unique Lyngby-Taarbæk town hall
