New H.C. Ørsted High School in Lyngby

Strong learning and knowledge environment in Lyngby

TEC – Technical Education Copenhagen has purchased a 15.000 m2 lot by Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, where a new high school building known as ‘H.C. Ørsted Gymnasie’ is to be placed. The high school ‘H.C. Ørsted Gymnasie’ is known for its technical focus.

A new H.C. Ørsted Gymnasie strengthens our vocational educations in town and creates a strong learning and campus environment in the area close to K-Nord and Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management. At the same time, the proximity to the Technical University of Denmark and Novozymes opens up for new possibilities for collaboration across educational institutions. And then a new technical high school also supports the realisation of a City of Knowledge”, says Sofia Osmani, mayor in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality.

We look forward to getting started and can hardly wait till the building is finished. We are not only creating a fantastic building, we also carry the ambition to develop the high school so that it is forward-thinking and hopefully with strong collaborations between the other stakeholders and companies in the mmunicipality”, states Lone Hansen, director of TEC. The high school will be placed in the area around ‘Trongården’. In connection to the sale of the lot, the parties have also agreed on a development agreement for roads and paths, among others.

With a new high school, the variety and number of vocational educations within natural science and technology in Lyngby is strengthened – completely in line with the vision of the City of Knowledge to become a vibrant university town for students.
