The Rise of Innovation Districts

Prospects for Innovation Districts in Denmark

For the past 50 years, the landscape of innovation has been dominated by places like Silicon Valley – sururban corridors of spatially isolated coporate campuses, accessible only by car, with little emphasis on the quality of life or on integrating work, housing and recreation.

A new complementary urban model is now emerging, giving rise to innovation districts – geographic areas where leading-edge anchor institutions and companies cluster and connect with start-ups, business incubators and accelerators. They are physically compact, transit-accessible and offer mix-use housing office, and retail.

But why this shift? What can businesses and society gain from the rise of innovation districts? And how do we make the most of it?

Come and experience international keynote speaker Bruce Katz, Inaugural Centennial Scholar at The Brookings Institution and board member in BLOXHUB.
